**Atlanta, GA – April 23, 2025** – The Atlanta Braves have once again called upon veteran right-hander Jesse Chavez, adding him to their major league roster. This marks Chavez’s second stint with the team this season, following his release from the Texas Rangers and a brief appearance with the Dodgers. The move comes in response to recent bullpen struggles, particularly during the recent series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
To make room for Chavez, the Braves transferred infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr., their No. 4 prospect according to MLB.com, to the 60-day injured list due to a wrist injury sustained in Spring Training. Right-hander Nathan Wiles, who made his major league debut Tuesday, was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. Wiles allowed three runs in the ninth inning of that game.
Chavez, who performed well in Triple-A after his previous call-up, offers experienced relief pitching to a struggling bullpen that conceded nine runs in the eighth and ninth innings over the past two games against the Cardinals. His previous appearance this season saw him allow one run in two innings pitched against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
