**Bandar Abbas, Iran –** A large explosion at the Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas, Iran, injured at least 115 people on Saturday, April 26, 2025, Iranian state media reported. The blast, which sent a mushroom cloud into the sky and shattered windows kilometers away, occurred as Iran commenced a third round of nuclear talks with the United States in Oman.
While the cause of the explosion remains unclear, a local crisis management official stated that it resulted from the detonation of several containers at the port’s wharf. The port, a major hub for container traffic, also houses oil tanks and petrochemical facilities. Following the blast, port activities were suspended to extinguish the resulting fire.
