SRINAGAR, KASHMIR—Security forces narrowly escaped injury after two separate explosions occurred in the homes of suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in South Kashmir. The incidents, which authorities believe were booby traps set by the terrorists, took place during searches of the residences of Asif Fouji alias Asif Sheikh in Tral and Adil Thoker alias Adil Guri.

Police were conducting searches when the explosives detonated, causing significant damage to the buildings. One police official speculated that the terrorists preemptively planted the explosives, anticipating a security raid and aiming to inflict casualties.

Asif Fouji is suspected of involvement in a recent Pahalgam attack. Investigators have released sketches of three terrorists involved in that attack: Asif Fouji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha, also known by the codenames Musa, Yunus, and Asif. Adil Thoker, who allegedly received training in Pakistan before returning to Kashmir last year, is also linked to the group, the Resistance Front. Eyewitnesses provided information leading to the creation of the sketches.

The explosions highlight the ongoing security challenges in the region and the evolving tactics employed by terrorist groups. Investigations are underway.
