Fri Apr 25 23:10:00 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh Teachers Protest Minimum Qualifying Marks for Mega DSC-2025 Exam**
VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – A coalition of teacher, student, and youth organizations protested in Vijayawada on Friday, demanding the Andhra Pradesh government relax the minimum qualifying marks for the upcoming Mega DSC-2025 teacher recruitment exam. The protesters, led by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), argue that the required 45% for Intermediate and 50% for degree/post-graduation is too high, particularly for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Backward Classes (BC) candidates. They cited Telangana’s lower 40% requirement as a benchmark.
In addition to lowering the minimum marks, the protesters demanded a 90-day extension to the exam preparation period, consistent exam papers across districts, an increase in the maximum age limit to 47, and improved online application support. They reported malfunctions with the official websites and toll-free numbers.
The A.P. Nirudyoga JAC echoed these concerns, further suggesting a 40% minimum for SC/ST/BC candidates and 45% for others. They also called for increased posts in several districts and better publicity for posts reserved for the physically handicapped and backlog candidates.
The Navyandhra Teachers’ Association, highlighting the seven-year wait for this recruitment drive, joined the call for relaxations in qualification, age, and other criteria. Support for the protestors’ demands also came from MLC B. Gopi Murthy, urging officials to consider the relaxations to maximize the number of successful applicants. The protestors submitted a representation to the Director of School Education, V. Vijay Rama Raju.
