VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh – The city of Visakhapatnam bid a tearful farewell to Chandramouli on Friday morning. Chandramouli, a victim of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgham, was given a state funeral.
His body was brought from Pandurangapuram to the Gnanapuram crematorium in a solemn procession. Several prominent figures, including Health Minister Satyakuamr, Anakapalle MP CM Ramesh (who both helped carry the bier), and a host of other political leaders and dignitaries, paid their respects. The funeral was attended by large crowds of mourners.
Before the cremation, Home Minister Vangapudi Anitha, Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao, YSRCP leader and MLC Botsa Satyanarayana, former minister Gudivada Amarnath, former MLA Karanam Dharmasri, BJP district president Parashuramaraju, and Deputy Mayor Giyani Sridhar offered their condolences to the bereaved family.
Many speakers condemned the attack, calling the terrorists’ actions inhumane. Chandramouli’s wife Nagamani and children Niharica and Animitra were inconsolable during the ceremony.
The incident has sparked widespread grief and anger within the community.
