Sat Apr 26 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Bihar Braces for Divided Weather: Heatwave in South, Storms in North
**Patna, Bihar (April 21, 2024)** – Bihar is set for a stark weather divide this Saturday, with scorching heat predicted for southern districts and thunderstorms expected to bring relief to the north. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “hot day” warning for 19 cities, including Patna, anticipating intense heat and heatwave conditions.
Conversely, northern, Kosi, and Seemanchal districts are under an orange alert for thunderstorms, strong winds (up to 60-70 kmph), and potential hailstorms. The IMD warns of lightning strikes in these areas. This severe weather is expected to continue until April 30th, primarily affecting northern Bihar and leading to a drop in temperatures. However, little respite is anticipated for southern Bihar.
Friday saw several districts swelter under extreme heat, with Gaya and Dehri (Rohtas) recording the highest temperatures at 43.4°C. Patna and 15 other cities recorded temperatures above 40°C. The IMD has urged residents to exercise caution during the adverse weather conditions.
