**Kochi, Kerala –** Mohanlal and Shobana’s highly anticipated film, “Thudarum,” is set to hit theaters on April 25th. Director Tharun Moorthy revealed in a recent interview that while Shobana was always the top choice for the female lead, the team initially explored other options due to difficulties contacting the veteran actress.
Before approaching Shobana, Moorthy pitched the action-comedy to Jyotika. The actress expressed interest, but scheduling conflicts arising from a planned world tour with her husband, Suriya, prevented her from taking on the role. This ultimately paved the way for Shobana’s return to the screen opposite Mohanlal after a two-decade break. The pair previously starred in several Malayalam classics, including “Avidathepole Ivideyum” and “Thenmavin Kombath.”
“Thudarum,” a joint production by Aashirvad Cinemas and Rejaputhra Release, also features Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, and Aarsha Chandini Baiju in supporting roles. The film boasts a screenplay by K.R. Sunil and music by Jakes Bejoy. Meanwhile, Jyotika’s next project is an untitled courtroom drama slated for release on Amazon Prime Video.
