**THRISSUR, KERALA –** Despite the cancellation of inaugural ceremonies following the passing of Pope Francis, a massive job fair is set to take place in Thrissur, Kerala on Saturday. The event, part of the Vijnana Keralam people’s campaign, is expected to attract over 25,000 registered candidates seeking employment from 151 employers across 577 sectors.
Organised at the Government Engineering College and Vimala College, the hybrid job fair boasts 35,000 job openings and features on-site hiring, a virtual job fair, an apprenticeship drive, and an influencers’ meet. 617 candidates already received job offers during pre-event virtual sessions, with 512 more slated to receive official offers and certificates on Saturday.
To accommodate the expected large turnout, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is deploying extra buses, and Thrissur City police are managing traffic with designated parking areas. Food courts and volunteers from NSS and NCC will also be present to assist attendees.
The event is a collaborative effort between various government bodies, including K-DISC, KILA, ICT Academy, Kudumbashree, and several state departments. Local bodies are also key partners in this initiative aimed at connecting job seekers with employment opportunities. Key dignitaries, including Revenue Minister K. Rajan, Higher Education Minister R. Bindu, and District Collector Arjun Pandyan, are scheduled to attend.
