Fri Apr 25 15:48:00 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh Minister Orders Inquiry into TIDCO Housing Irregularities**
VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh – April 25, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh Minister for Social Welfare, Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, has ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the construction and allocation of TIDCO (Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation) houses in Visakhapatnam. The decision follows concerns raised by elected representatives during a District Review Committee meeting on Friday. Irregularities in construction, sanctioning, registration, and beneficiary lists were cited.
The Minister also directed officials to cooperate with individuals building houses on their own land, emphasizing that those building on plots under 100 square yards should not face obstacles regarding self-certification. He highlighted Visakhapatnam’s high revenue-generating potential and stressed the need for long-term development solutions and quality public services. The Minister also emphasized the benefits of G.O. No. 30 for encroachment regularization and called for increased public awareness.
Addressing the summer season, Swamy instructed officials to ensure adequate drinking water supply, including the provision of additional water tanks. He further urged the speedy completion of masterplan roads and other projects within the VMRDA (Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority) limits, and ordered an audit of streetlights to address concerns about defunct fixtures.
Several MLAs raised other issues, including concerns about ganja-related groups, delays in road development projects, and the need for infrastructural improvements like an underpass at Kakaninagar. The District Collector announced the reorganization of zones within the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to align with Assembly constituencies. The meeting was attended by several MLAs, MLCs, and the Andhra Pradesh TDP president.
