**Chennai, April 25, 2025** – South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics is further investing ₹1,000 crore (approximately $120 million USD) in its existing facility in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This expansion is expected to create 100 additional jobs.

Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister, T.R.B. Rajaa, announced the investment on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting Samsung’s continued confidence in the state’s workforce. In a subsequent press conference, Minister Rajaa linked this investment to the state’s ambitious goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy. He cited the success of the DMK government’s Global Investors Meet held in January 2024, stating that over 70% of projects announced have materialized. The Minister also noted a growing demand for industrial clusters in the region. This latest investment from Samsung underscores Tamil Nadu’s ongoing success in attracting foreign direct investment and its progress towards its ambitious economic targets.
