**Islamabad, April 25, 2025** – Pakistan’s Senate unanimously passed a resolution today vehemently rejecting India’s accusations linking the country to the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir on Tuesday, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who introduced the resolution, stated that Pakistan is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty against any aggression. The resolution condemned India’s attempts to implicate Pakistan, calling it a “mala fide campaign” aimed at furthering narrow political goals. It further criticized India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, describing it as an “act of war.”
Following the attack, India announced several retaliatory measures against Pakistan. In response, Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) yesterday suspended the Simla Agreement and other bilateral accords, halted all trade with India, and closed its airspace to Indian airlines. The Pakistani government urged India to abandon its “blame game” and cease exploiting such incidents for political gain. The Deputy Prime Minister also revealed that Pakistan’s Foreign Office briefed diplomats from 26 countries on the situation.
The resolution highlights the escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
