**New Delhi, April 25, 2025** – Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal today called for a special session of Parliament to condemn the recent Pahalgam terror attack and demonstrate national unity against terrorism. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene the session and pass a resolution to this effect, emphasizing the need to send a strong message to the world.
Sibal also proposed sending bipartisan delegations to key international nations to apply diplomatic pressure on Pakistan. He suggested mirroring US sanctions policies by informing nations trading with Pakistan that continued trade with Islamabad would bar them from the Indian market.
The former Union Minister highlighted a long history of terror attacks in India, linking them to Pakistan’s stated policy of a “thousand cuts.” He criticized the lack of Prime Minister Modi’s presence at Thursday’s all-party meeting, deeming it inappropriate given the gravity of the situation.
Sibal further called for a united front against terrorism, irrespective of political affiliations, and condemned the exploitation of the tragedy for political gain. He stressed the importance of international pressure through the United Nations and urged a strong response to Pakistan’s alleged use of terrorism as a tool for geopolitical maneuvering. The MP also criticized certain media outlets and BJP leaders for what he perceives as inadvertently assisting Pakistan’s agenda.
