Fri Apr 25 17:36:04 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Communities to Protest Caste Census Report

**Bengaluru, April 25, 2025** – Two prominent Karnataka communities, the Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha and the Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha, plan a joint protest against the recently released Socio-Economic and Educational Survey (caste census) report. The groups, meeting for the first time in nearly a decade, object to the population data collected by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes in 2015, the findings of which were submitted in 2024.

While the full report remains unreleased, the communities have expressed dissatisfaction with the published population figures, caste reclassification recommendations, and data collection methods. The issue is expected to be discussed at the State Cabinet meeting on May 2nd.

According to Mahasabha secretary H.M. Renuka Prasanna, the meeting included discussions on potential legal challenges to the survey, as well as strategies for mobilizing elected representatives to oppose the report. While the protest date is yet to be determined, the two organizations are coordinating their efforts to voice their concerns. The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Mahasabha national president Shamanur Shivashankarappa.
