**VIRUDHUNAGAR, April 25, 2025** – Virudhunagar District Collector V.P. Jeyaseelan has ordered the Pennington Library in Srivilliputtur to publicly release its income and expenditure records for the past 20 years within two weeks. This follows public accusations and internal disputes among the library’s committee members, which have recently come to light through competing posters.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has called for the committee’s dissolution and government takeover of the library’s administration. Collector Jeyaseelan stated that he received complaints regarding the library’s management, which he felt reflected poorly on both the committee and his office. He asserted his right, as ex-officio president, to guide the committee towards the library’s intended objectives. The Collector also requested details on the library’s income-generating properties, their revenue, outstanding dues, and expenditure. The Pennington Library, established during the British era, possesses various assets which generate income.
