Thu Apr 24 19:43:32 UTC 2025: ## Temple-Funded Colleges in India See High Placement Rates

**Chennai, India (April 25, 2025)** – Colleges in India run by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department are reporting high placement rates for their students, demonstrating the success of a unique educational model. This year, 206 students from Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Arts and Science College alone secured jobs through campus interviews with major companies including TCS, Axis Bank, and others. The majority of these students, many from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are women.

The success reflects the HR&CE’s commitment to providing affordable education and subsequent employment opportunities. Minister P.K. Sekarbabu highlighted the Chief Minister’s emphasis on ensuring graduates from these institutions find employment after graduation. One student, S. Nandhini, praised the college’s affordable tuition and quality of instruction as factors in her successful placement at TCS.

The HR&CE Department manages nine arts and science colleges and one polytechnic, in addition to 25 schools, with a combined student body exceeding 22,000. While campus interviews are ongoing at other colleges under the department’s purview, officials expect a high placement rate overall, mirroring the approximately 2,000 placements achieved last year. The department actively encourages students with outstanding arrears to complete their studies to increase their employment prospects. This model demonstrates the potential for temple funds to contribute to improved educational outcomes and economic empowerment, particularly for women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
