Fri Apr 25 17:22:23 UTC 2025: ## ED Arrests Woman Accused of ₹9.82 Crore Gold Fraud in Bengaluru
**Bengaluru, April 25, 2025** – Aishwarya Gowda, accused of defrauding a Bengaluru jeweler of ₹9.82 crore worth of gold, has been arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and remanded to 14 days of custody. Gowda allegedly falsely claimed to be the sister of senior Congress leader D.K. Suresh.
The ED’s action follows searches conducted on Thursday at the residences of Gowda, senior Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, and another Congress leader, Tibbegowda, whose wife filed the complaint. The searches were part of an ongoing investigation into the gold fraud.
Bengaluru City Police, who previously arrested Gowda for cheating, recovered a luxury car belonging to Gowda’s husband from Kulkarni’s possession. The car was allegedly gifted to Kulkarni by Gowda.
The police investigation uncovered additional instances of fraud involving Gowda, with bank transactions exceeding ₹70 crore. Based on this, the Assistant Commissioner of Police alerted the Income Tax Department and the ED, leading to the registration of an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and Gowda’s subsequent arrest.
Kulkarni, responding to the ED raids, stated that central agencies have been targeting him for years. He is expected to be summoned for questioning.
