**Hyderabad, April 24, 2025** – A scorching heatwave continues to grip Telangana, with temperatures soaring above 45°C in four districts on Wednesday. Nandipet in Nizamabad district recorded the highest temperature at 45.3°C, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). Several other locations also experienced near-extreme heat, with many districts reporting maximum temperatures between 42°C and 44°C. Even urban areas like Balanagar and Nampally felt the heat, recording temperatures of 42.1°C and 42°C respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave and warm night alert for several districts, warning of unusually warm nights in addition to extreme daytime heat. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are forecast for some districts on Friday, offering a potential respite from the intense heat. The IMD’s warning underscores the severity of the ongoing heatwave and urges residents to take necessary precautions.
