**Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, April 24, 2025** – Members of the Tamil Nadu Highway Road Employees Association held a sit-in protest in Krishnagiri on Thursday, demanding improvements to their working conditions and addressing several alleged grievances.
Key demands include an end to the practice of assigning workers to tasks outside their contracted road work responsibilities. The association also seeks the provision of adequate tools and safety gear, including hand tools, footwear, gloves, and reflective raincoats.
Furthermore, the protestors allege that secretaries are demanding bribes of ₹500 for advance applications from the worker welfare corpus. The association also claims that promotional rules for Road Inspectors-Grade II have been bypassed and demands that eligible workers be considered for these positions.
