**Chennai, April 24, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government announced the establishment of a new ₹40 crore residential coaching center in Chennai to help aspiring civil servants. The center, located in Shenoy Nagar, will accommodate 500 students and boasts modern amenities. This initiative is part of the state’s “Naan Mudhalvan” scheme, aimed at improving the skills and success rate of Tamil Nadu students in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin cited a significant drop in successful candidates from the state, falling from a large number annually before 2016 to only 27 in 2021. In response, the government implemented various support measures under the “Naan Mudhalvan” scheme, including a monthly stipend of ₹7,500 and a one-time incentive of ₹25,000 for qualifying candidates. The government also provided training programs and resources through the All India Civil Services Coaching Centre at Anna Institute of Management.
This year’s results show a marked improvement, with 57 Tamil Nadu students selected for All India Services, 50 of whom benefited from the “Naan Mudhalvan” scheme. A felicitation event for the successful candidates will be held on April 26th at the Anna Institute of Management.
