**Puducherry, April 24, 2025** – Teachers from the Pondicherry Engineering College Teachers Association (PECTA) launched an indefinite sit-in protest today outside the Puducherry Technological University (PTU) administrative building. Their demands include the immediate formation of the university’s Board of Governors, faculty and staff recruitment, and implementation of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for promotions.
The protest stems from the PECTA’s assertion that the PTU administration and the Puducherry government have failed to address their concerns. The absence of a Board of Governors, the university’s highest authority, for five years since the Pondicherry Engineering College’s upgrade to PTU, has reportedly crippled the institution’s operations. The teachers vow to continue their sit-in until their demands are met.
