**KOTTAYAM, April 24, 2025** – Ponnamma DC (90), wife of the late DC Kizhakemuri, founder of the prominent publishing house DC Books, passed away on Thursday after a short illness. A former teacher, Ms. Ponnamma played a crucial role in the growth of DC Books for over two decades, contributing significantly to its success. She was instrumental in the company’s development from its inception in 1974 and cultivated close relationships with leading literary figures such as Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, and C.J. Thomas. Notably, she accepted the posthumous Padma Bhushan award on behalf of her husband from then-President K.R. Narayanan. Ms. Ponnamma is survived by her three children—Tara, Meera, and Ravi Deecee (Managing Director, DC Books)—as well as their spouses.
