THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, April 24, 2025 – The Kerala government will release a double pension payment in May, covering both the May 2025 installment and a pending installment for social security and welfare fund board beneficiaries, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal announced on Thursday. Each of the approximately 6.2 million beneficiaries will receive ₹3,200, totaling ₹1,800 crore in government expenditure.
This payment fulfills a promise made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan last year to clear arrears that had accumulated to five missed installments. Two installments were disbursed in 2024-25, and the May payment marks the first of three remaining installments scheduled for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The Minister emphasized that the government has ensured timely monthly pension payments since March 2024.
