Thu Apr 24 12:55:48 UTC 2025: ## Mysuru Hosts ESG Conference, Underscoring India’s Sustainability Commitment
**Mysuru, Karnataka – April 24, 2025** – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mysuru Zone held its annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) conference and expo today, emphasizing the growing importance of sustainability in Indian businesses. The event, themed “Driving Sustainable Transformation: Aligning Business with Sustainability,” brought together over 150 delegates from various sectors.
Speakers highlighted the shift from ESG compliance to a core business strategy, underscoring India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. Nagaraja Gargeshwari, chairman of CII Mysuru Zone, noted Karnataka’s leading role in sustainable industrial practices, stating that the region is “building sustainability, brick by brick, enterprise by enterprise.”
The conference featured discussions on decarbonizing industries, ESG accounting, the role of MSMEs in sustainability, and integrating ESG principles across the value chain. Participants included representatives from manufacturing, services, academia, and sustainability consultancies. A concurrent expo showcased sustainable products and green technologies.
Concerns were raised about the low adoption rate of fully integrated ESG frameworks in India. Ganapathy C.P., convenor of the HSE & Wellness Panel, CII Mysuru Zone, noted that only 37% of Indian companies have achieved full integration, indicating a significant opportunity for collective action. The event underscored the increasing urgency for businesses to embrace sustainable practices and contribute to India’s broader environmental goals.
