**Chennai, April 24, 2025** – Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Public Health (DPH) has launched a vaccination campaign for Haj pilgrims traveling from the state. Of the 175,025 pilgrims departing from Tamil Nadu, 5,675 will receive vaccinations. The initiative, in collaboration with the Union government, provides 8,025 doses of quadrivalent meningococcal meningitis vaccine (QMMV) and 1,452 doses of seasonal influenza vaccine (SIV).
Forty-one health camps across 37 districts are operational from April 24th to May 5th, offering vaccinations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pilgrims aged 3 to 85 will receive QMMV and oral polio vaccines, while those over 65 will also receive SIV. The Chennai international airport serves as the embarkation point, with a dedicated help desk established by the Chengalpattu district health officer. The DPH Director, T.S. Selvavinayagam, confirmed these arrangements.
