Thu Apr 24 12:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Responds to India’s Actions After Pulwama-like Attack with Retaliatory Measures

**ISLAMABAD** – Following a recent terrorist attack in Pulwama, India has taken strong measures against Pakistan, prompting a swift and strong response from the Pakistani government. Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), convened urgently today by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, met to discuss the situation and India’s actions. The NSC meeting resulted in a series of retaliatory decisions.

Pakistan vehemently rejected India’s implied threat to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it an international agreement that cannot be unilaterally revoked. The NSC termed the treaty a “lifeline” for the Pakistani people and vowed to defend it. Pakistan further warned that any attempt by India to divert or obstruct water flows would be considered an act of war and met with full national force.

Pakistan accused India of violating international norms, UN resolutions, sponsoring terrorism within Pakistan, illegally occupying Kashmir, and perpetrating human rights abuses there. Pakistan also reserved the right to suspend all bilateral agreements with India, including the Shimla Agreement.

The retaliatory measures announced by Pakistan include:

* **Immediate closure of the Wagah border:** Movement of people between the two countries has been halted, and all Pakistani visa holders are to return to their home countries by April 30th.
* **Cancellation of SAARC visas:** All Indian visas issued under the SAARC visa program have been revoked, except for Sikh pilgrims. Other Indian nationals have been given 48 hours to leave Pakistan.
* **Expulsion of Indian defense attaches:** Indian defense advisors in Islamabad have been declared persona non grata and ordered to leave Pakistan by April 30th.
* **Reduction of Indian High Commission staff:** The number of staff at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad has been reduced to 30.
* **Closure of airspace to Indian airlines:** Pakistan has immediately closed its airspace to Indian airlines.
* **Complete trade embargo:** All trade with India, including transit trade through third countries, has been halted.

Pakistan asserted its military is fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty, security, and honor. The government framed India’s actions as evidence supporting the “Two-Nation Theory” and claimed that Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s 1940 Pakistan Resolution remains highly relevant today.
