**New York, NY** – Former Syracuse University and NBA basketball star Michael Carter-Williams is trading the hardwood for the boxing ring. The 33-year-old, who won NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 2014, will make his amateur boxing debut on May 29th at the Broad Street Brawl in New York City’s Léman Ballroom.

The event, organized by Uprising Promotions, will raise funds for Bigvision Community, a non-profit supporting young adults in recovery from substance abuse. Promoter Ronson Frank expressed excitement about Carter-Williams’ participation, highlighting the former NBA player’s work ethic and anticipation for his transition to boxing.

Carter-Williams, a member of Syracuse’s 2013 Final Four team, enjoyed a nine-season NBA career with several teams. Since retiring from professional basketball, he’s joined ESPN as a college basketball analyst and is part of an ownership group aiming to bring a WNBA team to Boston. His foray into boxing represents his latest post-basketball venture.
