**Bhopal, April 22, 2025** – The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved a ₹145 crore plan to develop buffer zones around the state’s nine tiger reserves. The two-year scheme, running from 2025-26 to 2027-28, aims to enhance wildlife protection and conservation efforts.

Key initiatives include installing chain-link fencing in ecologically sensitive areas, improving grasslands and water resources, providing healthcare for wild animals, and offering skill development training to local communities. The government cites a significant increase in the tiger population within buffer zones – from 526 to 785 in the past four years – as evidence of the success of conservation strategies. The move comes on the heels of the March 10th inauguration of Madhav National Park, the state’s ninth tiger reserve.
