Mon Apr 21 21:58:38 UTC 2025: ## Wife of Former Senator Bob Menendez Found Guilty of Bribery and Fraud

**New York, NY** – Nadine Menendez, 58, wife of former US Senator Bob Menendez, was found guilty on Monday of all 15 counts against her, including bribery, honest services wire fraud, and conspiracy. The verdict concludes a trial stemming from allegations that she accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for leveraging her husband’s influence to benefit Egyptian officials and New Jersey businessmen.

Menendez was accused of participating in a scheme with her husband and several businessmen, including Wael Hana and Fred Daibes, to secure favorable treatment from the US government for Egypt and shield businessmen from prosecution. Prosecutors presented evidence showing that the bribes included cash, gold, and a Mercedes-Benz. Hana reportedly placed Menendez on the payroll of a company he controlled in exchange for facilitating meetings between her husband and Egyptian officials.

The conviction comes just months after Bob Menendez, who served 18.5 years representing New Jersey, was sentenced to 11 years in prison on related charges. He was the first US Senator ever convicted of acting as a foreign agent. He resigned from the Senate following his conviction last July. Both Menendez and his wife were initially to be tried together, but Nadine Menendez’s trial was delayed due to a reported breast cancer diagnosis.

Acting Manhattan US Attorney Matthew Podolsky stated that Nadine and Bob Menendez “placed their own interests and greed ahead of the interests of the citizens the Senator was elected to serve.” Nadine Menendez’s lawyer, Barry Coburn, expressed disappointment with the verdict, stating that the trial was a “very rough day” for his client. Menendez will be sentenced on June 12th by US District Judge Sidney Stein in Manhattan. Hana and Daibes, also convicted in related cases, received sentences of over eight and seven years respectively.
