**JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a special welcome upon arriving in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday for a two-day state visit. His aircraft was escorted by Royal Saudi Air Force F-15 fighter jets as it entered Saudi airspace, a gesture highlighting the growing defense cooperation between the two nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a video showcasing the escort, and spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted about the “friendship flying high,” emphasizing the special welcome for Modi’s visit.
Ahead of his arrival, Prime Minister Modi underscored the strong bilateral relationship in an interview with Arab News, calling Saudi Arabia a “valued partner, maritime neighbour, trusted friend and strategic ally.” He highlighted the shared interest in regional peace and stability and stated that the increasing defense and security collaboration reflects the deep mutual trust between the two countries. Modi also praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his role in strengthening the partnership.
This visit, Modi’s third to the kingdom as Prime Minister, is expected to focus on strengthening defense ties and expanding engagement across various crucial sectors.
