**Kolhapur, Maharashtra –** TV9 Network and Shriram Finance launched their “Highway Heroes” campaign in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, focusing on the well-being of truck drivers. The initiative, which kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by ACP Traffic Vitthal Kubde, included participation from TV celebrities Sunita Rajwar, Hunar Hale, Poonam Zhavar, and film director Sanjay Sharma. Mr. Raktim Das, CGO of TV9 Network, Mr. S. Balamurugan, CSR Head of Shriram Finance Limited, and Mr. Bal Malkit Singh, CMD of Bal Transport, were also present.
The campaign offers truck drivers comprehensive support, encompassing technical training, health checkups, and financial literacy sessions. Drivers received government-recognized Skill India training certificates, equivalent to a 12th-grade pass, after completing a 3-hour course covering new technologies and safe driving practices. This certificate facilitates the renewal of driving licenses without additional training.
The “Highway Heroes” campaign also addressed the mental, physical, and financial well-being of drivers. This included yoga sessions by the Yoga Institute, health awareness and free checkups by Piramal Swasthya and Apollo Healthcare (including blood sugar, blood pressure, and eye tests), and financial literacy workshops by NSE experts covering savings, investments, and avoiding cyber scams.
The campaign will continue to other major cities across India, with Gandhidham, Gujarat, scheduled for April 25th and 26th, followed by Indore, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The initiative aims to acknowledge the vital contribution of truck drivers to the nation’s economy.
