Tue Apr 22 15:40:10 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Police Find No Evidence of Ragging in Teen’s Suicide Case
**KOCHI, KERALA** – A preliminary police inquiry into the January suicide of a 15-year-old student in Kochi has found no evidence to support allegations of ragging at his school, Global Public School. The Puthencruz police, who conducted the inquiry, submitted their report to the Ernakulam Rural District Police Chief.
The investigation was launched after the victim’s mother petitioned the Chief Minister and State Police Chief, claiming ragging led to her son’s death. Police sources stated that while they cannot definitively rule out ragging, their investigation, which included statements from the victim’s cousin, friends, classmates, school authorities, and the school bus driver, yielded no supporting evidence.
The inquiry focused solely on the ragging allegations; a separate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death from the 26th floor of his apartment is being conducted by the Hill Palace police. The school also denied any knowledge of ragging incidents, stating they investigated the allegations following social media posts and subsequent contact from the boy’s family. The school reported that students and parents implicated in the alleged bullying denied any wrongdoing. A special investigation team continues to probe the case.
