Mon Apr 21 17:03:08 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Quarry Strike Ends After Government Concessions
**Chennai, April 22, 2025** – The indefinite strike by Tamil Nadu’s Stone Quarries, Crusher Units, and Lorry Owners’ Association ended Monday evening following negotiations with the state government. The association agreed to withdraw its action after Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan assured them that the majority of their demands would be considered.
The strike, which began April 16th, saw the association present 24 demands. While the government agreed to address 22 of these, it stated that the mineral bearing land tax and seigniorage fee adjustments could not be immediately withdrawn. However, the government did concede to an increase in building material costs. Starting April 22nd, the price of materials like M-Sand and P-Sand will increase by ₹1,000 per unit. The association also secured a promise to review the schedule of rates for government construction projects. Minister Duraimurugan had previously met with the association on Saturday to discuss the issues.
