Mon Apr 21 21:45:00 UTC 2025: ## Dargah Demolition Case: Supreme Court Dismisses Petition After Withdrawal

**Mumbai, April 22, 2025** – The Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition challenging the demolition of the Hazrat Saatpeer Sayed Baba Dargah in Nashik after the petitioners withdrew their plea on Monday. The demolition occurred hours before the Supreme Court issued a stay order.

The Court clarified that its dismissal of the petition, which was initially filed after the Bombay High Court made prima facie observations deeming the structure illegal, was without prejudice to the merits of the case. The High Court is now free to reconsider the matter.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation informed the Supreme Court that it received the stay order only after the demolition had been completed. Attempts to reach the petitioners after the hearing were unsuccessful. The Supreme Court’s decision comes days after issuing the stay order, highlighting the rapid developments in the case.
