Mon Apr 21 20:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Wife of Convicted Senator Bob Menendez Found Guilty in Bribery Case

**Newark, NJ** – Nadine Menendez, wife of former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, has been found guilty on all counts in her federal bribery trial. The verdict, reached Monday afternoon after jurors deliberated since Friday, concludes a case that painted a picture of a husband and wife team engaged in a wide-ranging bribery scheme.

Prosecutors argued that Nadine Menendez actively participated in the scheme, alongside her husband, accepting bribes including cash, gold bars, and a luxury Mercedes-Benz convertible in exchange for political favors orchestrated by her husband. They presented evidence that included $70,000 in cash found in her safe deposit box and alleged that she facilitated introductions between her husband and Egyptian officials, leading to further corrupt dealings. A key witness, New Jersey businessman Jose Uribe, testified about his role in providing the Mercedes-Benz as a bribe.

The defense maintained Nadine Menendez was uninvolved in her husband’s activities. However, the jury ultimately rejected this argument.

The charges against Nadine Menendez included conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and conspiracy to commit extortion. Several charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for June, the same month her husband is to begin serving his 11-year sentence.

Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew Podolsky stated that the verdict sends a clear message that corruption will not be tolerated. He highlighted the couple’s prioritization of personal gain over the interests of the citizens they were meant to serve.

Bob Menendez, convicted last year on similar charges, has called the prosecution a “political witch hunt.” His sentencing was delayed until June 6th to allow him to attend his wife’s trial. The trial itself was postponed several times due to Nadine Menendez’s breast cancer treatment and subsequent illness.
