**Bengaluru:** The shocking murder of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash has led to the arrest of his wife, Pallavi, who confessed to the crime. Police investigations reveal that the murder was premeditated and involved Pallavi and their daughter, Kriti. While Pallavi has been arrested, Kriti remains under investigation for her suspected role in the killing.
Om Prakash’s son, Karthik, filed a complaint with the police, stating that his parents had been experiencing frequent arguments recently. He reported that his mother had been verbally abusive towards his father and that his sister had pressured his father to return home from his aunt’s house a few days before the murder. Karthik further alleged that his mother had threatened to kill his father on several occasions.
According to a VIP security inspector, Srinivas, the murder was brutal. He described the injuries as indicative of a premeditated killing, suggesting a prolonged struggle before Om Prakash’s death. The inspector also revealed that chili powder may have been applied to Om Prakash’s eyes before the attack.
Police suspect that both property disputes and Pallavi’s mental health contributed to the crime. Om Prakash reportedly planned to transfer a 17-acre land in Uttara Kannada district to his son and daughter, a decision that allegedly angered Pallavi and Kriti. Pallavi’s posts on police officers’ groups reportedly displayed her increasingly erratic behavior and threats against her husband.
The post-mortem examination was conducted on Monday morning, followed by Om Prakash’s funeral in the evening. The investigation continues to unravel the full extent of Kriti’s involvement.
