**Gaza City, Occupied Palestinian Territory** – The United Nations and numerous human rights groups are sounding the alarm over a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, exacerbated by ongoing Israeli military operations and a complete blockade of humanitarian aid. At least 32 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since dawn, including eleven who perished in a house fire in Khan Younis, and seven members of a family in western Gaza City. Three civilians, including two young girls, were also killed in an air strike in Nuseirat refugee camp.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini described the situation as “a land of desperation,” with over two million people, primarily women and children, facing collective punishment. Nearly 3,000 trucks carrying UNRWA supplies and other humanitarian aid remain blocked from entering Gaza, while food and medicine inside are dwindling. Hamas echoed these concerns, condemning the blockade and Israeli attacks on shelters, hospitals, and residential areas as a “premeditated crime.” They also criticized the international community for its inaction and called for pressure on Israel to lift the blockade.

Al Jazeera reports a relentless barrage of air strikes and artillery bombardments, targeting not only civilians but also heavy machinery crucial for rescue and recovery efforts. Nine bulldozers provided to Gaza during a previous ceasefire were destroyed in an attack, despite their location having been previously shared with Israel. The Israeli army claims the equipment was used for “terror purposes.”

Thirty international rights groups, including Oxfam and Medical Aid for Palestinians, have issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s intensified violence in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, urging world leaders to uphold their legal and moral responsibilities to intervene. The statement highlights a September UN General Assembly resolution demanding an end to Israel’s occupation within twelve months, a deadline that is fast approaching amidst this escalating humanitarian catastrophe.
