Tue Apr 22 13:39:57 UTC 2025: ## Seven Dead in Madhya Pradesh SUV Plunge

**Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh –** Seven members of a single family, including five women and two children, perished in a tragic road accident on Tuesday in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh. The family’s SUV veered off a bridge near Rond village, plummeting onto a dry riverbed.

According to Nohata police station in-charge Arvind Singh, the accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. The SUV, carrying approximately 12-13 passengers, was returning to Jabalpur after visiting a healing center and a temple in Damoh. Mr. Singh stated that the vehicle appeared to have been speeding, losing control on a sharp turn before the bridge. While the bridge itself has railings, the elevated approach road lacks them, leading local residents to express concern and blame the lack of safety measures for the accident.

The impact of the crash resulted in six immediate fatalities, with two more succumbing to their injuries at the District Hospital. Several others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment, with some critical cases transferred to Jabalpur Medical College. The driver, who was not under the influence of alcohol, is also undergoing treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, focusing on the excessive number of passengers in the vehicle. A case will be filed following a preliminary investigation. The District Collector has visited the site and assured the community of action.
