Tue Apr 22 13:26:10 UTC 2025: ## EVM Checks Begin in Erode Ahead of Town Panchayat By-elections
**EROde, Tamil Nadu – April 22, 2025** – The first stage of electronic voting machine (EVM) verification is underway in Erode district, Tamil Nadu, in preparation for upcoming by-elections. Nine town panchayat ward member vacancies need to be filled in various locations including Anthiyur, Bhavanisagar, Chennasamudram, Karumandichellipalayam, Kilambadi, Gugalur, Pallapalayam, and Vaniputhur. The specific date for the by-elections has yet to be announced by the State Election Commission.
Engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) are conducting the EVM checks under the supervision of Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara. The verification process began Tuesday at the Collectorate.
