Tue Apr 22 06:49:56 UTC 2025: ## Delhi High Court Condemns Ramdev’s “Sharbat Jihad” Remarks

**NEW DELHI, April 22, 2025** – The Delhi High Court on Tuesday strongly criticized Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev for making communal remarks targeting Hamdard Laboratories and its popular Rooh Afza rose syrup. Justice Amit Bansal called Ramdev’s comments, made in a video promoting Patanjali’s competing rose syrup, “shocking to the conscience of the court.”

In the video, Ramdev allegedly linked Hamdard’s charitable activities to mosques, contrasting them with his own company’s support for gurukuls (traditional Hindu schools). He further coined the term “Sharbat Jihad,” echoing the inflammatory “Love Jihad” rhetoric.

Hamdard, a century-old manufacturer of Unani and Ayurvedic medicines, filed a plea with the Delhi High Court against Ramdev’s statements after the video went viral. The hearing is ongoing. The court’s strong condemnation highlights the sensitivity surrounding such religiously charged statements in India.
