HYDERABAD, INDIA (April 22, 2025) – The Confederation of Indian Industry’s Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) today recognized leaders driving India’s green building revolution at an event held on World Earth Day. The council reported a significant surge in sustainable building projects, registering over 142 new projects in 2025 alone, totaling more than 875 million square feet across 14 sectors. This brings the total number of IGBC-registered projects to over 15,800, covering a remarkable 13.56 billion square feet.

C. Shekhar Reddy, National Vice Chairman of CII IGBC, emphasized the building sector’s crucial role in achieving global clean energy goals, particularly the target of tripling clean energy by 2030. He highlighted the need for buildings to transition from energy consumers to energy producers, incorporating renewable energy technologies and reducing reliance on external resources.
