**Kozhikode, Kerala, April 23, 2025** – A new anthology, “Randam Aanava Duswapnam” (Second Atomic Nightmare), examining the implications of nuclear energy on Kerala’s energy future, was released in Kozhikode yesterday. The book, published by Transition Studies and edited by K. Sahadevan, features essays from leading nuclear physicists and experts, including Surendra Gadekar, M.V. Ramana, and Budhikkotta Subba Rao.

The book’s release comes amidst ongoing debate surrounding a proposed nuclear power plant in Cheemeni, Kasaragod. Writer and journalist N.P. Chekkutty, presiding over the event, emphasized the book’s timely relevance to this discussion. V.T. Padmanabhan, research director at the Society of Science, Environment and Ethics, shared findings from his research on radiation effects in the Kollam region, further highlighting the concerns addressed in the anthology. The book was introduced by writer and researcher Smitha P. Kumar.
