Tue Apr 22 15:10:46 UTC 2025: ## AIADMK Protests Tamil Nadu Minister’s Remarks on Women and Religious Groups

**Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, April 22, 2025** – Members of the AIADMK party staged a protest in Thoothukudi today, condemning Tamil Nadu Forest Minister K. Ponmudy for his recent offensive remarks against women and derogatory comments about Saivites and Vaishnavites.

The protestors criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for failing to dismiss Mr. Ponmudy despite the controversy. While Mr. Ponmudy was removed from a minor party post, he remains in the cabinet. Former Minister S.P. Shanmuganathan, leading the demonstration, stated that Mr. Stalin’s inaction sends a message that such behavior is tolerated. The protestors demanded Mr. Ponmudy’s removal from the cabinet and stronger action against such remarks. Slogans were raised against both Mr. Ponmudy and Chief Minister Stalin.
