Tue Apr 22 06:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Retired DGP Brutally Murdered in Bengaluru; Wife, Daughter Arrested

**Bengaluru, Karnataka, April 22, 2025** – A shocking incident has rocked Bengaluru with the brutal murder of retired Director General of Police (DGP), Om Prakash. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at his residence in HSR Layout. His wife, Pallavi, and daughter, Kriti, have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Om Prakash was having lunch when a heated argument erupted between him and his wife. Pallavi allegedly threw chili powder in his eyes before stabbing him multiple times with a knife and a broken beer bottle. Following the murder, Pallavi and Kriti went to an upper floor of the house and alerted the police.

Upon arrival, police found Om Prakash’s body in the dining hall, surrounded by evidence indicating a struggle. The crime scene examination showed traces of chili powder in the victim’s eyes. A broken beer bottle was also recovered.

When taken into custody, Pallavi confessed to the crime, while Kriti initially attempted to obstruct the police investigation. Both women reportedly resisted arrest, causing a commotion during their transport to the police station.

Police are investigating the motive behind the murder. Initial reports suggest a possible connection to an extramarital affair Om Prakash had with a woman from Chikmagalur. This woman had previously protested in front of the DGP’s office in 2015, accusing him of deception. Police are pursuing this lead.

The incident has sparked outrage and criticism. BJP leader R Ashok condemned the murder, questioning the state government’s handling of law and order. He expressed concern over the rising crime rates in the state.

Home Minister Parameshwara stated that a thorough investigation is underway and declined to comment further until it is complete.

Meanwhile, Om Prakash’s family performed his last rites. The case is being investigated by ACP Vasudeva. The investigation continues.
