Tue Apr 22 06:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Govt. & MCD Office Timings Revised After Air Quality Improvement
**New Delhi:** Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinai Kumar Saxena has revised the working hours for Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employees following an improvement in the city’s air quality. The new timings, effective immediately, aim to further reduce traffic congestion and contribute to cleaner air.
Delhi government employees will now work from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, a shift from the previous 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM schedule. MCD employees, previously working from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, will now start their day at 9:00 AM and finish at 5:30 PM.
This decision follows a sustained period of improved air quality in Delhi. The LG’s office cited the reduction in pollution levels as the primary reason for the change. A similar adjustment to office timings was implemented last November by then-Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, also in response to high pollution levels, with the goal of mitigating traffic congestion. That earlier decision altered timings for various government bodies and the MCD.
