**Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir:** A devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has claimed the lives of at least 26 people, with over ten more injured. The attack, which occurred around 1:30 PM on [Date of Attack], targeted tourists trekking in a mountainous area.

Among the victims is Manjunath from Shivamogga, Karnataka, who was holidaying with his wife Pallavi and young son. Pallavi, a survivor, recounted the horrific incident, stating that the terrorists, numbering three or four, specifically targeted Hindus. She described witnessing her husband’s death and hearing one of the attackers say, “I won’t kill you, go tell Modi this,” after she pleaded for her life.

Pallavi highlighted the bravery of local citizens who aided survivors immediately following the attack, saving her and her son. She appealed to authorities for swift repatriation of her husband’s body from Pahalgam to Shivamogga, citing difficulties in transporting it overland.

The attack prompted strong condemnation from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who expressed his condolences and assured assistance to the affected families. He announced an emergency meeting to discuss the situation and coordinate efforts with Delhi officials.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia, was briefed on the incident and instructed Home Minister Amit Shah to visit the site immediately. Shah has arrived in Srinagar and is holding high-level meetings with security agencies. A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is also scheduled to arrive in Pahalgam on Thursday to investigate the attack, believed to have been carried out by the terrorist organization TRF. The attack occurred amidst a surge in tourist arrivals following recent snowfall in the region. Besides the human casualties, reports indicate several horses were also killed.
