**Theni, Tamil Nadu –** A 55-year-old woman, Ariyakkal, was stabbed to death on Monday in Seelayampatti near Chinnamanur, Theni district, Tamil Nadu. The attacker, identified as C. Saravanan, is the ex-husband of Ariyakkal’s relative, Murugeswari.
Police reports indicate a history of domestic violence stemming from Saravanan’s alcohol addiction. Murugeswari had separated from Saravanan approximately a year ago. Saravanan repeatedly visited Murugeswari’s home, attempting to reconcile. Ariyakkal intervened on Monday when Saravanan visited, resulting in a confrontation. Enraged, Saravanan stabbed Ariyakkal and another relative, Saravana Mani, who attempted to intervene.
Ariyakkal was pronounced dead at Chinnamanur Government Hospital. Saravana Mani was transferred to Theni Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. Saravanan fled the scene and is currently being sought by Chinnamanur police, who have registered a case.
