Sun Apr 20 21:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Engineer Dies by Suicide, Accuses Wife and In-Laws of Harassment in Uttar Pradesh

**Etawah, Uttar Pradesh:** A 33-year-old engineer, Mohit Yadav, was found dead in a hotel room in Etawah on Friday, having taken his own life. In a heartbreaking video recorded before his death, Yadav accused his wife, Priya Yadav, and her family of relentless harassment, including threats and false police complaints.

Yadav, a field engineer from Auraiya district working for a cement company, alleged that his in-laws forced his pregnant wife to have an abortion and kept her jewelry. He claimed his wife threatened to file a false dowry case against his family unless he transferred his property into her name. He further stated that his wife’s father had already filed a false complaint against him, and her brother issued death threats.

In his final video message, a distraught Yadav apologized to his parents and requested that his ashes be disposed of in a drain if he did not receive justice posthumously. He lamented the lack of legal protection for men against false accusations by women, stating this lack of recourse drove him to suicide.

Yadav’s brother, Tareen Pratap, confirmed that his brother had been traveling to Kota but stopped in Etawah. The family was informed of the tragedy via the video message received Friday morning. Police Superintendent (City) Abhay Nath Tripathi confirmed the discovery of Yadav’s body at the Jolly Hotel.

Priya Yadav and her family have yet to comment on the allegations. This incident follows a series of similar cases, fueling the ongoing debate and demand for legislation to protect men from false accusations. The suicide mirrors the case of Atul Subhash, a Bengaluru techie who took his own life last year under similar circumstances, reigniting concerns among men’s rights activists. The police are investigating the matter.
