Mon Apr 21 01:19:14 UTC 2025: ## Engineer Dies by Suicide, Accusing Wife and In-Laws of Harassment

**Etawah, Uttar Pradesh:** A 33-year-old engineer, Mohit Yadav, died by suicide in a hotel in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, leaving behind a video accusing his wife and in-laws of harassment and false accusations. Yadav, a field engineer from Auraiya district, checked into the Jolly Hotel on Thursday and was found dead the following evening.

In the video, recorded before his death, Yadav detailed his allegations, claiming his in-laws filed false cases against him and that his wife threatened to file a dowry case if he didn’t register his property in her name. He further alleged that his wife, Priya, who was pregnant, was forced to have an abortion by her mother, and that his mother-in-law withheld Priya’s jewelry. He stated he had no dowry demands during their marriage in 2023.

Yadav’s brother, Tareen Pratap, stated that Yadav had been traveling to Kota but stopped in Etawah. The family discovered the video on Friday morning. Police are investigating the incident. A comment from Priya Yadav and her family is awaited.

Yadav’s suicide has reignited the debate surrounding the need for stronger legal protection for men against false accusations, echoing similar cases, including that of Atul Subhash, a techie in Bengaluru who died by suicide under similar circumstances last year. The incident highlights the growing demand for legal reforms to address this issue.
