HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Texans have announced the re-signing of tight end Irv Smith Jr. on a one-year contract, the team confirmed Friday. The agreement was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Smith, 26, originally joined the Texans practice squad last September before being promoted to the active roster in December. While he saw action in five games, contributing 85 offensive snaps and 15 on special teams, he did not record a reception during the 2023 season.
The former second-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings (2019) brings considerable experience to the Texans’ offense.
