**Chennai, April 21, 2025** – Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, publicly criticized the underfunding of his department and the unusual arrangement of TIDEL and neo-TIDEL IT parks falling under the Industries Department instead of his own.
Responding to a request for a new IT park in Gudalur constituency, Mr. Rajan highlighted the insufficient funds allocated to his department, a situation he described as “unusual” given that other states place all such parks under the IT ministry. He noted that this arrangement in Tamil Nadu has existed for the past 20 years, hindering his department’s ability to develop IT infrastructure.
The Assembly Speaker, M. Appavu, intervened, suggesting that the Minister discuss the issue internally with the Chief Minister before making further pronouncements.
